Announcement of Change of Guard in South Cotabato and Davao Region

On Wednesday, 12th of November 2014

At the occasion of the Chief Apostle Divine Service in General Santos on 14th December 2014 the Apostle Mercurio Nuyad will enter into his well deserved retirement. As successor is foreseen Bishop Alfredo Pascual. This was announced over the weekend in the Tupi Church where all Apostes and Bishops from the Philippines have gathered. In a “despedida” celebration many emotional renditions were presented to acknowledge the work of the Apostle. He indeed was loved very much and appreciated. He for sure will be an active member of the General Santos congregation. Not as a minister but professing his faith and dedication to the Lord.

Ap. Mercurio Nuyad is an extraordinary man, very charismatic and full of energy, until today.  He has founded and promoted the church in the Southern Mindanao area.  Untiringly, he reached out to farthest remote areas and established congregations among tribal people.  When his brother Ap. Francisco Nuyad retired in 2006, he has assumed responsibility also for that area which consists today of 300 congregations.

Sealed by the Ap. Bert  Woll and ordained as a Priest on January 26, 1982, and ever since March 4, 1995 as an Apostle, Ap. Nuyad looks back to very fruitful 33 years as a minister.  Without wanting to qualify, it is fact that his working area belongs today to the strongest and best sustained in the Philippines.

He has prepared for his retirement and joyfully anticipates the blessing for his new era of life.  As we all know him, he for sure will be retired from his ministry but definitely not from his active membership in the congregation.
