NAC Academy Launched
The District Apostle launched a new project at the occasion of the annual retreat for the ministry in Luzon, in Tagaytay on Saturday 7th January 2017. The NAC ACADEMY is a resource and competence center for ministers and concentrates for the time being on Deacons and Priests, especially the younger ones but also other church workers such as sunday-school teachers. It’s purpose is to provide support, give access to resources, establishing the fundamentals, offer help, give explanations and set the standards.
Methodology for teaching covering the areas of Ministry, Choir and Music, Youth, Confirmands, Children and Trainers.
Pr Frank Hoyer a professional, certified trainer designed the program and introduced it to the District Rectors from Luzon at their annual meeting. “It is just a beginning” he stated. The ACADEMY program will go through a progressive evolutionary process. Subjects and material will be continuously added and eventually also be made available online.
Next introductions are planned at our Tagbilaran Church on 14th January, in Ormoc on 4th February and at our Tagum Church on 18th February.
“Teaching and learning are essential in today’s ever changing world” the District Apostle elaborated. In no area of life one can progress without constant learning. Teaching and learning was high on the agenda from the very beginning of the Church here in the Philippines. Knowledge for our newly ordained Brothers and fast growing congregations was a great concern already of DA Michael Kraus. He did not only publish various booklets outlining the understanding of doctrine but sent Brothers from Canada for many years. At times there were 8 Missionaries from Canada visiting the Philippines 2 to 3 times a year for a seminar program. Many of today’s church leaders still remember these formative years they went through. Needless to say it was an enormous investment of natural resources, not just by NAC Canada but also personal sacrifice.
After the Canadian era the Apostles and Bishops assisted by various Brothers in the teaching profession carried the program further. The Board of Education was founded which supervises the organisation and support of Sunday School programs. Now we are going a step ahead with the NAC ACADEMY SOUTH EAST ASIA to serve and support the needs of church and ministry.
